At "Sengokubara Cocon," a small luxury hotel nestled in the serene and grand nature of Sengokubara, Hakone, "Colors Dyeing the Silence," an exclusive art event for hotel guests by artist Kohei Kyomori, is currently underway. The event runs from June 17 to July 21, 2026.

During this period, Kyomori's artworks are exhibited throughout the hotel, including in guest rooms and the restaurant, transforming the entire building into what feels like a single art museum. This project, which is exclusively available to staying guests, offers a special opportunity where the stay itself blends seamlessly with art.

Kohei Kyomori works under the consistent theme of decorative culture, creating paintings and three-dimensional works while researching the diverse forms and functions of ornamentation that humanity has generated throughout craft, religion, authority, and history. In recent years, he has focused on the act of "decorating oneself," examining the relationship between identity and the surface. His highly original artistic expression has been highly acclaimed both in Japan and internationally.

On specific days during the event, Kyomori himself will visit the hotel to host private art tours, guiding participants through the exhibition. In the evening, a gala dinner will be held with the artist. This offers a rare and valuable opportunity to hold a free-flowing drink in hand while hearing directly about the philosophy and passion infused into his artworks.

The venue, "Sengokubara Cocon," is a small luxury hotel with only five rooms that opened in 2024. All rooms are fully equipped with Owakudani hot spring baths, a sauna, and a cold plunge pool, boasting a prime location where Mount Fuji can be seen from many of the rooms. The French-style dining, centered around wood-fired cooking, is another of its major attractions.
