ARUTA SOUP

Aruta Soup moved to the UK at the age of 17. While studying at Camberwell College of Arts in London, he became deeply immersed in the vibrant club culture and graffiti scene of East London. His work captures the psychological states of the people around him and addresses local issues with sensitivity and, at times, sharp humor.

A recurring motif in his art is the “ZERO” rabbit, often wrapped in bandages. In the noise-heavy information age of modern society, the “ZERO” rabbit symbolizes human resilience—it is constantly wounded, yet it is always reborn. The character reflects a duality: struggling with inner conflict but overcoming it with an inexplicable sense of optimism. For Aruta Soup, “ZERO” is not just a symbol, but a spiritual partner and a touchstone that he returns to throughout different stages of his life.

While graffiti art is often associated with flatness or repetitive patterns, Aruta Soup’s approach defies these conventions. His work stays true to the principles of fine art, with a focus on flowing, freehand lines and a mastery of colors that reflect his personal vision.

In today’s digital world, Aruta Soup challenges the meaning of physical creation. The warmth and accessibility of his characters are a testament to his ongoing dedication to perfecting his craft. Since returning to Japan in 2012, he has held solo exhibitions in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and mainland China, and has exhibited in numerous art fairs. His collaborations with brands such as Medicom Toy and CASETiFY continue to broaden the reach of his work, keeping him at the forefront of the art scene.
