Whitestone Ginza New Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition “Ink Art Show”. The origin of ‘ink art’ gives back to ink painting derived from China with Zen Buddhism in Kamakura period: the peculiarity consists in a variety of nuanced lights and shades, bleeds, and blurs brought by a blissful coalition of improvisational blush stroke and spiritual intensity realized in a single black world. The profound monochrome world never stops engaging the hearts and minds of people.
Old simultaneous new—ink art is endowed with this universal condition that only authentic art possesses. It continued to develop even in 20th century playing important role in the formation of contemporary art and is still evolving by its sensitive and dynamic craft of expression pushing away any conventional classifications like calligraphy or painting.
In this exhibition, a series of exquisite works that cover from Japanese postwar period to the present will be displayed; Yu Kawashima, international attention-grabbing young talent from Japanese painting; Shiho Fujiwara and Kiro Uehara, whose exhibition at MOCA Yinchuan was highly acclaimed; Rogen Ebihara, active in various fields as a special envoy of the Agency for Cultural Affairs; legendary Yuichi Inoue, who firstly placed calligraphy in the field of contemporary art; Kazuo Shiraga and Yasuo Sumi, two representative artists from Gutai Art Association, who put the innovativeness of Japanese postwar art to the international context; to name a few. Besides, the brand-new live painting work of rising calligrapher, Yuuna Okanishi will be presented.
We cordially invite you to come visit to this precious opportunity.
