Jiro Yoshihara's early works were strongly influenced by Surrealism. The exploration of the unconscious realm, which is characteristic of Surrealism, is not simply a level of ideas for creating works of art, but gives Yoshihara an attitude toward art that goes deeper than techniques and ideas, and becomes the basis of his works.
