Essence of Love - 사랑이 만들어내는 에너지, 그 본질을 담아내다
‘사랑’은 누구나 공유하는 가장 보편적이면서도 깊은 감정입니다.
그중에서도 사랑하는 사람을 만났을 때,

그 근원에 자리하는 것이 바로 ‘사랑’입니다.
그 에너지가 마음을 뒤흔들 때, 우리는 스스로를 잊고, 살아 있음을 느끼며, 오롯이 ‘지금 이 순간’을 살아가게 됩니다.
이번 전시는 FINGAiSM의 세계를 통해 이러한 사랑의 본질을 시각적으로 풀어낸 여정입니다.

화이트스톤 갤러리 서울은 일본의 아이돌 그룹 Kis-My-Ft2의 멤버이자 다방면에서 예술 활동을 펼치고 있는 아티스트 센가 켄토 (Senga kento)의 개인전 《Essence of Love》를 개최한다. 퍼포머로서의 풍부한 경험을 토대로 회화, 조각, 캐릭터 기반의 스토리텔링을 결합한 센가의 작업은, 시각예술의 영역에서 독창적인 조형 언어를 구축해왔다. 이번 전시는 그의 예술적 여정 속에서 중요한 전환점으로, 사랑이라는 감정이 지닌 역동성과 에너지에 대한 깊이 있는 탐구를 선보인다.
《Essence of Love》에서 센가는 사랑이 어떻게 다양한 감정으로 구체화되는지를 조망한다. 기쁨과 설렘, 불안, 그리고 연약함까지—그는 사랑을 고정된 이상으로 묘사하기보다는, 진정한 인간적 연결 속에서 발생하는 능동적이고 생성적인 에너지로 접근한다. 전시 전반에 등장하는 오리지널 캐릭터 FiNGA는 이러한 감정의 복합성을 유쾌하면서도 상징적으로 담아낸다.

센가의 회화적 접근은 즉흥성과 제스처에 기반하고 있으며, 본능과 움직임이 화면 위에서 자유롭게 펼쳐진다. 중첩된 붓질과 살아있는 선, 조각적 형상은 감정이 지닌 강도와 예측할 수 없는 흐름을 시각적으로 구현한다. 안무와 공연에서의 경험이 반영된 그의 작업은 리듬과 감각을 품고 있어, 관람객에게 잠시 멈추어 서서 감정적으로 교감할 수 있는 시간을 선사한다.
본 전시는 화이트스톤 갤러리 서울 1층과 4층 전시 공간을 가득 채우며, 센가가 ‘FiNGAiSM’이라 명명한 그의 세계관이 다매체 형식을 통해 몰입적으로 펼쳐진다. 감정과 기억, 그리고 의미 있는 표현을 향한 끊임없는 탐색을 담은 이번 전시는 센가 특유의 예술적 에너지와 서정성을 오롯이 경험할 수 있는 자리이다.

한편, 지하 1층에서는 배우이자 아티스트인 박기웅의 개인전 《FUTURESUPERHERO》가 동시에 개최된다. 두 전시는 아트테이너로서의 정체성을 바탕으로 시각예술 영역에서 새로운 지평을 열고 있는 두 아티스트의 창작 세계를 조명하며, 상상력과 자아 탐색을 아우르는 동시대적 미학을 제시한다.
ARTIST
Kento Senga, a multidisciplinary artist and member of Kis-My-Ft2, blends entertainment industry experience with pop culture influences to create a unique artistic vision. His work spans character art, painting, sculpture, 3D animation, and custom sneaker design, all driven by the pursuit of emotionally resonant and globally beloved creations.
At the heart of his work is FiNGA, an original character inspired by his deep appreciation for expressive finger movements—an influence rooted in his background in choreography and cherished childhood memories with his grandmother. Initially exploring oil and acrylic painting, he sought greater creative freedom by embracing spontaneous brushwork, allowing forms and ideas to emerge naturally through the artistic process.
Senga has since expanded his practice to include digital art, painting, sculpting, and 3D animation, shaping a distinctive world that merges multiple disciplines. His custom sneaker designs showcase meticulous craftsmanship, as he trained under expert shoemakers to learn material selection, stitching techniques, and intricate post-bed sewing machine work, ensuring every detail reflects his artistic vision.
By incorporating dynamic linework, varied brush pressure, and an appreciation for spontaneity, Senga continuously expands the possibilities of his art. FiNGA remains the driving force behind his creativity—a symbol of his artistic evolution and personal storytelling. With an ever-evolving vision, he remains dedicated to exploring new forms of expression and pushing the boundaries of contemporary character art.
