Whitestone Gallery Taipei is pleased to announce the opening of “Spiritual Guardians”: Miwa Komatsu Solo Exhibition. It will be the first solo exhibition of Miwa Komatsu in Taiwan, and the artist will be present for the opening period. Introduced by the Taiwanese media as Chihiro Ogino, the protagonist from the cartoon film Spirited Away because of the resemblance of characters, the style of Komatsu can be traced back to her childhood: experiences of being present at the final moment of animals led the artist to form her unique view of life and death. Through depicting various spiritual animals, the artist manages to construct her distinct mystical universe. This solo exhibition in Taipei features Miwa Komatsu’s latest works and several significant creations, including her Guardian series collaborated with mobile video game “Terra Battle 2”, paintings inspired by her journey in Taiwan. The artist will remain at the venue for a brief period after the opening to share the audience with her world of view and to invite them into her vividly deep dynamism of spirituality. We cordially welcome you to visit and experience inexhaustible creative force of Miwa Komatsu. [sliders id='3809' title='tw-miwa-komatsu-122017-tbl' ]
