GROUP ZERO

An avant-garde art group formed in Germany. The group focused on light, sound, and movement, and promoted new movements of the time such as kinetic art, while at the same time actively encouraging exchanges with artists of the same tendency around the world.
Gutai was one of them, and they actively promoted exchanges with artists especially of the NULL from the Netherlands and Nouveau Réalisme from France. At a time once the informel was becoming outdated and Tapie's influence was weakening, exchanges with this group contributed to Gutai's growing recognition in Europe. At the same time, it may have provided a major stimulus to the kinetic art tendencies of Gutai's newcomers.
