“The sound of the bell at holy night casts a gentle spell on the world.”

-Karen SHIOZAWA

Karen Shiozawa has been consistently exploring the way to represent the world perceived by the non-visual senses. The works of Karen Shiozawa, in which the existence of infinite world that we cannot be wholly aware of is embodied by particles of lights and vivid colors, are strongly influenced by her reminiscence of the Netherlands where she spent in her childhood synchronizing with fantastic reveries remained deep in the viewer’s mind-The significant theme of the artist is to deliver such kind of the vortex of sensations which cannot be replaced by the words to five senses of the viewer through the works.

The exhibition title “Gentle Light” contains a wish of the artist “May the time of people all over the world be filled with warmness.” The mysterious dreamland consists of innumerable light and overlayed colors, that is, the best value of the artist, is not only a deja-vu fragment perceived by the artist in unlimited dimension of the world, but also a gentle enchantment that reminds people of their almost forgotten warm memories.
