Seoul, a growing hub for contemporary art in East Asia, was recently introduced to Whitestone Gallery with the opening of Whitestone Gallery Seoul and its opening exhibition “We Love Korea,” featuring a broad selection from Whitestone’s prominent collection. However, Whitestone has more to show to the Korean public and is now holding a second round of this group exhibition entitled “We Love Korea II,” and visitors can enjoy more invigorating works by prominent artists and up-and-comers from October 21 to November 24.

The new exhibit will showcase a diverse range of Whitestone talents. In the first main exhibition hall on the basement level, guests can witness the artistic visions of several minimalist and abstract artists together in harmony. These artists will be a mix of post-modern minimalist masters, such as Ufan Lee, Yuko Nasaka, Takesada Matsutani, and Chiyu Uemae, as well as contemporary abstract visionaries, like Jiang Miao and Deokhan Kim.

Moving upward to the second main exhibition hall on the first floor having taken in calming abstraction, the atmosphere comes alive with bright colors and bold patterns, as viewers enter the hall dedicated to young, dynamic pop and representational artists. Artists like Ronald Ventura, Morita Manabu, Senko Takahashi, and Sebastian Chaumeton will no doubt remind visitors of characters from media like cartoons, anime, and internet culture, while sculptures by Osamu Watanabe and Huang Pin Tong will envelope them in sweetness. Finally, in this exhibition room, guests can get lost in the details, motifs, and patterns in the art of Kohei Kyomori and Yuji Kanamaru.

The third main exhibition room on the second floor is devoted to printed art pieces and drawings in varying forms and pieces that were produced as editions in a series. Whitestone Gallery Seoul introduces its guests to masters of print and edition artworks with high-quality edition works by legendary artist Yayoi Kusama and prints by Yoshitomo Nara that emit his witty and dry sense of humor.

To wrap up their tour of Whitestone Gallery Seoul, visitors can make their way to the rooftop by way of the rock garden staircase area, where they can view spherical installation works by Korean abstract artist Deokhan Kim, who creates his spheres in glossy Asian lacquer with a minimalist approach. These works mark the end of a typical viewing of “We Love Korea II,” on view until November 24 at Whitestone Gallery Seoul in Yongsan-ku.
