MAMI YAMASAKI
By incorporating landscapes and sceneries through the eyes of her own filters, an unbalanced interpretation of affirmation and negation appears in Yamasaki’s works. Strongly fascinated by the urban lights of nightscapes in recent years, Yamasaki experimentally explores expressions in the realism of urban life. As an example, she demonstrates this by delving deep into human desires behind the beauty in its superficial façade. The night sceneries ― which beauty and ugliness exist with little differences, Yamasaki ventures to extract only what she believes to be beautiful. Her works reflect on her philosophy of life in which she projects rich imagery with implied purposes.
Born in Osaka, Yamasaki graduated from Tama Art University(majored in oil painting, Faculty of Art and Design). She was accepted for the New Face Award of Monthly Art Magazine “debut” competition, IAG AWARD 2022, and “Iime-Fukurame” Competition 2022 in Kyoto. She is the appointed ambassador of the Maruzen Artist Materials and Works, Ltd., (2022~).
