The artist was born in the Hyogo Prefecture, and studied Contemporary Art. Later she became a student of Shozo Shimamoto. One of her major exhibitions, “Mail Art Tourism Journey”, has travelled through Eastern European countries such as, Yugoslavia, Romania, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Belgium for two months. Furthermore, Jingia. S. Kim participated in the annual AU International Art Exhibition and won numerous awards. She also received a Golden medal at the ‘Nice 20th Century Flowers’ exhibition in Kansai. After the Great Hanshin earthquake in 1995, Jingia. S. Kim was one of the 20 artists, who helped recover the affected areas and created a contemporary work in memorial of the event. In addition to art making, Kim. has also accumulated knowledge in architecture through self-study, her practices involved designing, decorating and renovating resorts accommodations, commercial buildings, stores, exhibition spaces and even houses. Due to her building practices she became familiar with constructions materials, which is reflected in the mediums of her artworks. Kim’s experimental works with Styrofoam - an insulation board for thermal insulation and water barrier in walls, roofs and foundations – are displayed in the exhibition ‘VIBRANT: Shozo Shimamoto x AU”.  In Jingia. S. Kim’s ‘IMPACT’ series, indentations on the surface of the Styrofoam are presented. These indentations are caused by the chemical reactions upon in contact with oil -the oil paint would melt with the Styrofoam. Kim discovered this method by accident while assisting Shimamoto at his Bottle-throwing performances. The size of the indentations also varies depending on the temperature and humidity, in doing so, the art-making process become uncontrollable.
